The Roberts Academy began in 2010. Two American Montessori Society certified guides, Tim Fickenscher and Alice Roberts, founded the school.

The Roberts Academy is a nonprofit Montessori school serving students with mild learning differences. Small class sizes and a student-to-faculty ratio of 1 to 5 provide personal attention.

Our school has an intergenerational component. It has many benefits for our students. We are the only secondary Montessori school located within a healthcare community. Students work with older adults using the Montessori philosophy and method. Elders share their experiences and expertise to enrich the education of adolescents. The students have the opportunity to learn life skills working with individuals with dementia. Their work in this area led to speaking engagements and national healthcare awards.

Students in grades 7-12 with dyslexia, ADHD, mild ASD, or have anxiety being in large schools find our school focused on their needs. Using their strengths, adolescents in the community grow both socially and academically. Each student has an individualized plan focused on his or her interests. Our goals are to guide students on how they learn, be successful, and pursue post high school education and a career pathway of their choice.
